While Dan was off last week, we spent a day wandering around a couple of nearby villages, Chiddingfold and Petworth. Despite Petworth having about three million antique shops in the space of a square mile, every single one we passed was closed for refurbishment, so we ended up in regular furniture / interiors shop. We weren't really looking to buy anything that day, but we were keeping our eyes open for a buffet-style table for our dining room. In the end we found a zinc topped potting table that we both loved, so we bought it and brought it home!
This is the unfinished original:
This is the painted result:
It only took me all afternoon, but it was worth it as I painted it in the garden so got to spend the whole day outside in the sun! However, after all my hard work, Dan came home from work and looked less than impressed...
Personally, I think it looks great already and will look even better in the dining room once the walls are painted! Speaking of painting the walls, I've started filling the holes left by old picture hangers and then I'll sugar soap the walls and ceiling to make sure I've got a good base.
No work today, though - I'm going to London to meet a friend for lunch, then I'm heading to the pub with some other friends to watch the England match!
